Call for papers: 20th Annual Warsaw East European Conference 2024

The Centre for East European Studies at the University of Warsaw (SEW, Studium Europy Wschodniej UW) invites researchers to submit their proposals for presentations at the Warsaw East European Conference, which will be held in Warsaw from July 1-3, 2024. This year marks the 20th anniversary of this prestigious annual conference.

The theme for this edition is ‘How to Deter Russia: Resilience of Ukraine and of the Western Community.’

DEADLINE FOR PAPER PROPOSALS:

MAY 31, 2024

TERMS OF PARTICIPATION

 Participation in the conference is free of charge for all participants.
 Organizers do not cover the accommodation and travel costs of the participants.
 The language of the conference is English.
 Full papers and their abstracts must be written in English.
 Please note that participants submitting individual papers will be grouped into panels.

During the conference, we will discuss the war between Russia and Ukraine and its consequences for the international order. We aim to pay special attention to the evolution of the attitude towards the war of the parties supporting Ukraine, including NATO countries and those in East Asia. We plan to discuss the situation in Russia and Ukraine from military, economic, and social perspectives. We are open to considering other subjects for presentations that broadly reflect the conference’s central theme.


PAPER PROPOSALS

The deadline for submitting presentation proposals for the conference is May 31, 2024. Proposals must include a completed application form encompassing the panel proposal and should be sent to the following email address: conf.studium@uw.edu.pl

PANEL PROPOSALS

We invite institutional partners to arrange their own panels during the conference under the following conditions:
 The theme of the panel must reflect the central theme of the Conference
 The applicant proposing the panel must guarantee 3–4 participants and cover all expenses related to their participation
 The panel arranger also becomes a partner of the entire Warsaw East European Conference.

Proposals are to be submitted directly to the Secretary of the Programme Board at: conf.studium@uw.edu.pl.


WARSAW EAST EUROPEAN REVIEW

We offer WEEC participants an opportunity to publish their papers in 'Warsaw East European Review’, an annual academic journal by SEW. The WEER can be acquired through SEW’s distribution at wydawnictwa.studium@uw.edu.pl.
